Our History
Eddie’s Famous Frozen Custard was born out of a simple dream, years of hard work, and a lot of faith. On December 26, 2006, Eddie McGhee opened the doors to Hammond, Louisiana’s first-ever frozen custard shop. For Eddie, this was more than just a new business venture. It was the culmination of decades of experience in sales and a burning desire to bring something new to the community where he and his wife, Chrissie, had raised their family.
Frozen custard, a made-fresh-daily, premium dessert with roots in the Midwest, was a rarity in Louisiana. But Eddie saw an opportunity to introduce the small town of Hammond to something different, something special. With the support of his family and friends, and his strong faith guiding him, Eddie’s Famous Frozen Custard was born. The shop quickly gained a reputation for its rich, creamy frozen custard, drawing in customers from all over Tangipahoa Parish and beyond.
